You see thats a good idea. Town Clothes wouldnt need AL and so wouldnt give advantages or disadvantages to old and new players. And they would still be unique.

Hand axe any day.

The advantage of gw that unfortunatly never applied to /bonus items and a few unique skin greens is the ability to have a weapon skin at max stats reguardless of the particular skin.
This lets you choose your own weapon to use and still be as effective as everybody else while other games force you to use a akin you may not like just for the higher stats it has.
Of course some people in gw replace those stats with "cost". Preferring what is seen as a rare drop to a skin the prefer (even if they hate the look of the expensive one).

If we get actual weapons from the HoM then i'd want them to be the equivilent to the inscribable weapons we have now. That way if i like it i can use it, if i dont i'll use something else.
I dont want another glacial blade.

The Hand Axe. But its all down to personal preference. And has nothing to do with wanting Old Players to have unique armour which is at max level from the start just because they bought a set of elite armour in the previous game.

All i said in my original post was that if they did armour it would be around the level of basic starter armour. If Anet are smart they wont do armour at all and limit to cosmetic things you can add to existing GW2 armour that allow for a unique look and do not give you a head start over the players who never played GW1.

So they make the food 30 minutes early, because it's "possible" someone may order it... But I digress!

What are my thoughts on "possible" benefits?

1) We are all give rocket launchers.
2) We are all given a new minipet.
3) We are all given a minipet with a rocket launcher.
4) A-Net will go out of business, and we get nothing and like it.
5) Something else...

Any of those options are "possible." So what! Isn't it more important to answer the question "What do you want the HOM benefits to be?" After all, A-Net employees read these message boards, and you never know, someone might come up with a great idea!

What's my great idea? Minipets with rocket launchers. Oh, and a minipet PvP arena!! I'd *love* to watch MvM combat.

Well the fact that the HOM is going to change as well means that they are most likey starting to work on the pains for it for GW2. also this hopefull should clear up a few things about the hall.

It has been suggested that each monument statue will unlock something for the character in Guild Wars 2 which will not be able to be given away and will not offer any significant benefit over players new to Guild Wars. For example;

* Monument of Fellowship - may grant special heroes or pets.
* Monument of Devotion - may grant unique mini pets.
* Monument of Honor - may grant special titles.
* Monument of Valor - may grant special weapons.
* Monument of Resilience - may grant a unique armor sets.

And for the people that have expectation, this quote should help.

"A character in Guild Wars 2 will be able to physically access the hall and "walk out looking like a bad-ass.""

Of course the teams of bad-ass to one person could be total diff. to another person

Its Probaly going to be like for everytitle in your HoM you get an extra 100g to start in GW 2 =_= idk but this is always a possibility

I have always had, and will continue to hold, zero expectations for the Hall of Monuments. This way, unless content in the HoM actually subtracts items or value from my account, I will remain pleasantly surprised by any bonus it may afford. Speculation at this point is quite literally uninformed, as there is no information upon which to base it.

Agreed with Tyla, if any bonus of actual statistical benefit is available that can not otherwise be obtained, I will be very disappointed. After all, that is exactly what they have promised; that the bonus will be purely cosmetic.

It'd be very interesting to see rewards (armor, weapons) that are scaled to the current level (let's say they're usable from level 10) and so change appearance as you level up your character. Items that evolve/level-up over time.

Well now I think a lot of you are jumping the gun. Anet loves to reward their players for loyalty and such, but they've said time and time again that these bonuses in GW2 will NOT ever give you an edge. They will most likely be similar to bonus weapons, so expect unique skins or maybe cosmetic abilities that add flare to your characters armor/body. Basically stuff to make you look cool, but no other reason.

If they have a unique set of armor skin, I'm sure they'd make us able to upgrade it to match our level. Otherwise it's just a dumb idea. "Wow! I have this really cool armor!" *ding level 3* "Why is this tattered pair of leather pants better than what I'm wearing?!"

So don't fret. Anet understands that different people like the looks of different things, that's why they allow copies of the same armor and weapons, just with increased stats.

Also to whoever mentioned it. I do think they said in one of the GW2 interviews that "You won't start in the Hall of Monuments, but you will be able to access it very early on". I could be wrong, though.

Sure hope they don't just give us 5 things...if they think people are going to grind and grit their teeth for 2 years for 5 freakin' benefits, then they might as well trade places with the company running AoC...we'd have more clued-in designers and game maintanence o_O

What if the HoM wasn't reachable until the point where people would have access to max armour anyway? What if armour collected from the HoM still required you to pay a similar price to max GW2-only armour (call it a restoration and refitting fee)? What if it was available right from the start, but at the starting AL and requiring progressive upgrades towards max - each just happening to cost around the same as crafting GW2-only armour would?

Under such regimes, having access to the old armour isn't providing any real mechanical advantage even in terms of having access to funds. It would basically be providing access to a skin - a purely cosmetic benefit. But it doesn't have to be nonfunctional to avoid disadvantaging new players.

If they would just reward my "God" title (almost there) with some some nice armor, cool shades and a set of sweet-looking starter weapons (/bonus item style) that goes from start to max damage/armor value (like the hero armor does now) for my new GWII caster,- I'll be happy as can be!

... but I'm guessing I might have to settle for less
